So. This blog has been very quiet for about the past year! But I have indeed been writing and also planning some exciting new somethings. One of those somethings, still in a very early stage, is a theatre piece for young audiences that I'm developing with Metro Theater Company (St. Louis, MO) about the compelling and confounding subjects of gender identity, and gender-based bullying, among pre-adolescent kids.
One phenomenon I find unique and exciting about writing for young audiences is that the audience itself becomes a kind of collaborative partner. I recently wrote about this in a little post on Cheek Teeth, a kickass blog created by Trachodon Magazine, an excellent journal of lit, art, and culture co-edited by my friend and writer extraordinaire Katey Schultz.
Check it out - and stay tuned for more info on this project and more writing, here, soon!
